There is also no record of any unit having its colors taken away as a punishment for any action at any time in the history of the United States Army.

a. The 1st Cavalry Division in Korea
b. 7th Cavalry at Little Big Horn Although this office has no conclusive evidence one way or the other, it has been suggested that Custer's personal flag along with several troop guidons were taken, but that the regimental flag was not captured. There is also a rumor that the 7th Cavalry lost its colors in Korea.
Также известно, что 30 ноября 1950 по приказу командира было сожжено знамя 2-го саперного батальона 2-й пехотной дивизии армии США, чтобы избежать захвата его противником. Батальон оказался в окружении и подвергался атакам превосходящих сил китайцев. Из 977 солдат и офицеров батальона вышли из окружения 266 (и только 1 офицер) Что интересно, саперы этого батальона проделывают эту процедуру каждый год - в память о тех событиях.
